The first Lakes End Village Hall Committee dates back to 1965. They were a group of four Trustees, Ernest Bishop, Alec Clingo,
George Hardy and Doris Loveday, who raised enough money to buy a piece of land in the middle of the village and build a small village hall on it. It's thanks to the fund raising efforts of those first Trustees that we have a hall today and over the years we have had countless Committees who were dedicated to the community in which they lived to keep the hall going.
Today there is a new voluntary Committee of Trustees. Some have stood on the Committee for many years, others are new, but we all have the same drive and dedication of that first Committee and are totally committed to keeping the Village Hall available as a resource to the village and wider community.
Unfortunately our village hall, being a wartime prefab (and second hand when she was originally bought), only has a limited life span, and after standing in Lakes End for over 56 years our hall desperately needs a lot of work to stop further damp and disintegration.
To do the critical work on the hall we need to raise money and so we have a calendar of events not only to raise the necessary money, but also to get the community in Lakes End and the surrounding area together to make new friends, meet up with old friends and generally have a good time.

The hall is also available to hire at a cost of £10 per hour for weekly classes, wedding receptions, private parties, community concerts, dances and other events for up to approximately 100 people.
Space and Facilities
An entrance hall with doors to main hall, kitchen and toilets.
The hall measures approx. 15m x 6m and hirers have the use of our tables and chairs. Electric wall heaters keep the hall warm on colder days. There is a serving hatch to the kitchen for ease of use. There is also a stage that can be used if needed.
We have two marquees that measure 10m x 5m each that can be hired if extra space is needed.
A kitchen with a fridge, electric cooker, microwave, electric kettles, a hot water urn, crockery, glasses and cutlery. A serving hatch opens on to the main area of the hall.
Separate male and female toilets and an accessible toilet with nappy changing facility.
The amount of people the hall can accommodate depends on the type of event:
Events involving dancing, with seating only: 80 - 120 persons *
Events involving combined dancing and seating: 60 - 80 persons *
Each marquee can accommodate 80 people standing only and approx. 50 people if seated at tables *
*The above numbers are dependant on how many tables and chairs are needed.
